Aberdeen International Airport and Bristow conduct emergency training

Aberdeen International Airport and Bristow Helicopters conducted a major emergency training exercise on September 27 to test coordinated responses to complex airside incidents. The simulation involved a collision between a fuel bowser and a Bristow helicopter on the airport ramp, resulting in multiple simulated casualties.

The exercise included participation from the Airport Fire and Rescue Service, Police Scotland, and various specialist response teams. Participants rehearsed firefighting and rescue operations, casualty care, emergency communications, and command and control procedures within an operational airport environment.

Robert Paterson, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport, stated that such exercises are essential for testing emergency plans and reinforcing collaborative relationships. Theo Adams, Bristow’s Director of Offshore Energy Services, noted that realistic scenarios allow teams to evaluate teamwork and processes under challenging conditions.
