Abergavenny Rail Services Cancelled After Large Fire at Caerleon Industrial Estate

A large fire broke out at The Star Trading Estate on Ponthir Road in Caerleon over the weekend, with fire crews called to the scene at about 02:42 am on Saturday. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service brought the blaze under control and a full investigation will determine its cause.

The fire damaged signalling equipment and overhead electric power, leading to the cancellation of ten rail services from Abergavenny for a third consecutive day. A heavily reduced timetable remains in operation, affecting routes to Cardiff, Holyhead and Manchester Piccadilly, with major disruption expected to continue until the end of the day.
