Abhishek Banerjee challenges bank account freeze in Calcutta High Court

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee has approached the Calcutta High Court to challenge the alleged freezing of his personal bank account by a private bank. Banerjee, who represents Diamond Harbour, claims the account was frozen without following proper legal procedures.

His legal counsel, Ayan Bhattacharjee, informed the court that no police action had been initiated regarding the freeze. The lawyer further noted that Banerjee has previously received protection from coercive action in ongoing investigations and is adhering to all court-imposed conditions.

The petition seeks an urgent hearing, as Banerjee is scheduled to travel abroad for three weeks of medical treatment. The Supreme Court has already granted him permission for this overseas trip. Justice Krishna Rao has scheduled the matter for a hearing this Wednesday, directing that notices be served to the involved parties.
