Abhishek Banerjee Endures Over 10 Hours of ED Interrogation Over Recruitment Corruption

Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee spent more than ten hours being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Delhi after being summoned in a primary teacher recruitment corruption case. During the marathon interrogation he reiterated that he has fully cooperated with investigators, while also alleging that the probe is part of a broader effort to weaken the opposition in West Bengal. Banerjee criticised the ruling party, claiming that political pressure is being applied to intimidate rival parties, suppress dissent and manipulate voter lists.

He also highlighted delays in the case, noting that the Central Bureau of Investigation opened a probe in June 2022 but the matter remains unresolved. Banerjee called for a transparent, merit‑based recruitment process and pledged to continue cooperating with any further inquiries.
