Abhishek Banerjee Faces Police Raids and CID Questioning

Police units in Kolkata conducted coordinated raids on the residences of Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee and former minister Madan Mitra, searching multiple locations linked to the two politicians. The operations involved both local and central police forces, with officers entering the homes, conducting searches and detaining assistants.

Separately, the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) scheduled several interrogations of Abhishek Banerjee over allegations of signature forgery on a government document, as well as accusations of threatening the Union Home Minister and inciting violence ahead of assembly elections. Banerjee was summoned to the CID headquarters on multiple occasions between June 11 and June 14, and other party members were also called for questioning.

The investigations are part of a broader probe into alleged misconduct by members of the Trinamool Congress, with authorities examining both the signature dispute and related intimidation claims.
