Abhishek Banerjee accuses BJP of vandalising TMC office in Kolkata
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee has accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers of a well-planned attack on his party office on Camac Street in Kolkata. Banerjee alleged that around 4:30 am on Thursday, armed men stormed the premises, assaulted staff, smashed furniture, and ransacked the office, making off with electronic equipment including televisions and mobile phones. CCTV footage purportedly showing masked men carrying items out of the building has been circulated by the TMC leader.
Banerjee criticized the Kolkata Police for an alleged two-hour delay in responding to calls for help and has called for judicial intervention from the Calcutta High Court. He also targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, demanding his resignation due to what he termed “political thuggery” and “open lawlessness.”
The BJP has rejected the allegations, with party representatives asserting that no party workers were involved in the incident.
In response to the escalating tension, the TMC has sought urgent meetings with President Droupadi Murmu and West Bengal Governor RN Ravi to discuss the deteriorating law-and-order situation and the alleged misuse of police machinery in the state.
