Abhishek Banerjee sparks political buzz via social media during US medical trip

Trinamool Congress MP and national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has sparked political speculation following a social media post shared during his medical trip to the United States.

Banerjee, who is in the US for eye treatment, posted a close-up photograph of his face on Instagram showing a visible scar. The caption, “The scar tells you I’ve been through something. The eyes tell you I’m nowhere near done!”, has been interpreted by some observers as a sign of his continued commitment to political life despite ongoing medical challenges.

Banerjee has been seeking treatment for a serious left eye injury sustained in a 2016 road accident. His current travel to the US was granted by the Supreme Court after the Calcutta High Court had initially denied permission for him to go abroad for medical consultation.
