Abhishek Banerjee’s West Bengal Home Raided by Police and Central Forces

Early on Saturday morning, around 3 a.m., police and central paramilitary units carried out a raid on the Kolkata residence of Abhishek Banerjee, national secretary of the Trinamool Congress. The operation, which lasted more than four hours, involved forced entry, with officials reporting that a lock was broken and every room was searched.

The party alleges the raid was illegal, accusing authorities of breaking the lock and entering without permission. Former chief minister Mamata Banerjee rushed to the site after learning of the action. Police said the raid was linked to a financial‑fraud investigation filed at a Medinipur police station, but did not disclose the specifics of the alleged wrongdoing. The incident follows a recent change in state power and has heightened political tension in West Bengal.
