Abia Governor Alex Otti praised for infrastructure projects and for upholding democratic norms in South‑East
Governor Alex Otti of Abia State was welcomed in a large civic reception in Umunneochi, where community leaders highlighted his recent development work. Projects cited include the near‑completion of the 27 km Mbala–Umuaku–Ngodo road, upgrades to twelve primary health centres, the construction of the Umualom road, and the establishment of the Abia State Joint Security Taskforce (Operation Crush) that has reduced crime in the area.
Separately, Governor Otti publicly disputed a claim by Governor Hope Uzodimma that South‑East governors had collectively pledged support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re‑election bid. Otti stressed that no governor can speak for the entire region’s electorate, emphasizing that the South‑East Governors’ Forum is a coordinating body, not a political party, and that democratic decisions should remain the prerogative of voters.
Both remarks underscore Otti’s focus on delivering tangible infrastructure and health services while advocating for democratic principles in regional politics.
