Abia State bus driver returns N400,000 left by passenger

Onyekachi Ikpendu, a commercial bus driver in Abia State, returned over N400,000 in cash and other personal belongings left in his vehicle by a passenger, Nkechi John.

Mrs. John, a petty trader, boarded the bus at Uzuakoli and alighted at Ubani Market, inadvertently leaving her bag behind. Upon realizing the loss, she returned to the Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal, where Ikpendu had secured the items. Ikpendu stated that he returned the money because he is content with earning a living through honest labor and believes in divine rewards for good deeds.

Abia State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu, commended Ikpendu for his integrity and described his actions as an example of responsible citizenship. Mrs. John also expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti, noting that the construction of the Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal helped her trace the vehicle and recover her property.
