Abia State First Lady launches support for sickle cell and albinism communities

Priscilla Otti, the wife of the Abia State Governor, has launched a support program providing cash assistance and health insurance enrollment for individuals living with sickle cell disease and albinism in Abia State, Nigeria.

During the ‘Care and Fair Outreach Day’ in Umuahia, organized by her Safe Tent Care Initiative, Mrs. Otti announced that each beneficiary would receive N50,000 in immediate financial support. The initiative, themed ‘Care, Inclusion and Dignity,’ aims to address the socioeconomic and healthcare challenges faced by these communities.

Mrs. Otti also recognized Jake Epelle, the founder of Albinism Foundation Africa, for his advocacy regarding disability inclusion in healthcare, education, and political participation. She emphasized that the Safe Tent Care Initiative is guided by the principles of community, consistency, and collaboration to ensure continuous care and support for those in need.
