Abia State Governor Alex Otti deploys tech graduates and appoints new officials

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has initiated several administrative and developmental measures within the state. He has directed the deployment of 66 graduates from the third cohort of the TechRise programme to various government offices. These graduates will be assigned through the Office of the Chief Information Officer to agencies such as the State Citizens Contact Centre, the Abia State Emergency Contact Centre, and the Ministry of Health to utilize their digital skills in enhancing public service delivery.

In a separate administrative move, Governor Otti swore in 10 new Permanent Secretaries into the State Civil Service. Notably, women comprise 70 per cent of these new appointments. The Governor stated that the selection process was based on merit, competence, and capacity, utilizing electronic applications, computer-based tests, and oral interviews to ensure transparency.

Additionally, the Governor is scheduled to flag off the rehabilitation of Old Express Road and Uratta Road in Aba on October 21. These infrastructure projects cover approximately 3.955 kilometres and 3.09 kilometres, respectively.
