Nigerian governors issue warnings on political inducements and electoral violence

In Abia State, Governor Alex Otti has issued a warning to voters ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging them to reject financial and material inducements from politicians. Speaking at the seventh Synod of the Anglican Communion, Diocese of Aba Ngwa North, Otti cautioned that exchanging votes for small sums of money or goods could jeopardize the state’s long-term development and destiny.

Otti alleged that certain politicians responsible for previous regional declines are attempting to regain influence through deceptive tactics. He also advised the Christian community to remain vigilant against politicians who suddenly increase their engagement with religious institutions as election cycles approach.

In a separate development in Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has encouraged African youth to engage actively in leadership and politics to drive continental change. Additionally, Oborevwori fulfilled a N50 million scholarship promise to a student at Model Technical College.

In Kogi State, Governor Ahmed Ododo warned youths against being used as instruments of electoral violence, urging them to prioritize their futures over political conflicts.
