Nigeria: Abia industrial push and Anambra security crisis

In Abia State, Governor Alex Otti has called on manufacturers to improve product quality and scale to compete in the global market. He highlighted the administration's efforts to improve infrastructure and business environments, including a ₦10 billion funding arrangement with the Bank of Industry to support small and medium enterprises. Additionally, Otti has established a campaign council for the 2027 governorship election, appointing Agwu U. Agwu as Director-General.

In Anambra State, a communal crisis between the Aguleri and Umuoba Anam communities has escalated. Despite recent peace interventions by the Commissioner of Police and the Deputy Governor, reports indicate that hoodlums burned down the Ama Igwe in Aguleri. The police have condemned the arson and are working to identify suspects.

Separately, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has approved plans to streamline law enforcement operations to reduce duplication and increase accountability. The state also intends to repossess government-owned lands currently occupied without authorization and is preparing the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City for full operations.
