Abia State Governor launches South East Migration Dialogue

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has launched the inaugural South East Migration Dialogue 2026, calling for the translation of national migration frameworks into actionable regional outcomes. Represented by Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, Otti emphasized that migration must be orderly, lawful, and accompanied by social cohesion.

The Governor highlighted the need for collaboration between governments and development partners to promote safe migration and skill development. He outlined five key objectives for the dialogue: establishing a regional framework, building digital skills, promoting safe migration, fostering diaspora development, and supporting the reintegration of returnees. Otti noted that the initiative aims to ensure that the success of citizens abroad contributes to the prosperity of their home communities and the country.
