Abia State Governor Otti pledges road construction and women's empowerment

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has pledged to include the construction of the Obuokwe–Umuekechi–Uratta Road in the state’s 2027 budget. This commitment was made during a meeting with the Ukwa West Traditional Rulers Council, where the governor also addressed electricity shortages in the Owaza and Umuorie communities and promised to support development in oil-producing areas.

Separately, at the 2026 Abia Women’s August Delegates Conference, Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration's commitment to women's empowerment and protection. He highlighted the importance of providing women with tools for socio-economic development and praised his wife, Priscilla Otti, for her initiatives, including a housing project for 35 vulnerable women.
