Abia State marks 35th anniversary with praise for security and governance
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has commended the government and people of Abia State as the state marks its 35th anniversary. Created on August 27, 1991, from the former Imo State, Abia has been recognized for maintaining peace and security, which Kalu identified as essential drivers for economic growth and investment.
Kalu praised the current administration under Governor Alex Otti for its focus on security and good governance, specifically noting the establishment of an Air Force Office in the state capital, Umuahia. He also highlighted successful bipartisan collaboration between the state and federal governments, which has facilitated projects such as the Industrial Court, Renewed Hope Housing Projects, and new federal educational institutions.
Additionally, the Deputy Speaker lauded efforts to pay outstanding pensions and gratuities to workers, emphasizing the importance of honoring those who have served the state.
