Abia State to host Diaspora Global Homecoming in 2026

The Abia State Diaspora Commission has announced the Abia Diaspora Global Homecoming, scheduled to take place from December 18 to 21, 2026. The initiative aims to attract investment, facilitate skills transfer, and strengthen ties between the state government and Abians living abroad.

Rev. Dr. Ambassador Annie Onu, CEO and Executive Secretary of the Commission, stated that the event is designed to allow the diaspora community to witness state developments and explore business opportunities. Key objectives include promoting local content, such as organic farming products—including ginger, plantain, beans, and turmeric—as well as local leather and garment works for potential export.

The program will feature a solidarity walk and engagements with local entrepreneurs and stakeholders to identify products with international market potential. Additionally, participants are expected to express support for ongoing state projects, including the Abia airport development, while contributing expertise to youth empowerment and skill acquisition programs.
