Abia Warriors appeal NPFL fines and media officer suspension
Abia Warriors have launched an appeal against sanctions imposed by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following their October 25 fixture against Niger Tornadoes. The club is contesting a ₦3.25 million fine and a five-match suspension handed to multimedia officer Chidera Favour Igwe.
The club denies allegations that Igwe attempted to sabotage a live television broadcast. According to the club, Igwe merely requested that a cameraman reposition his lens toward the visiting team after she felt targeted by prolonged camera shots.
Additionally, Abia Warriors are challenging a security breach allegation. The club maintains that adequate security was in place, noting that Niger Tornadoes departed the stadium without incident. They have urged the league to review official broadcast footage and consult the visiting team to establish the facts before finalizing the disciplinary actions.
