Abidjan Legacy Program promotes local authority involvement in development
The Abidjan Legacy Program (ALP) held a panel discussion on October 17, 2026, focused on the role of local authorities in ensuring the long-term sustainability of development projects. Led by coordinator Binta Touré, the event emphasized that local governments must move beyond merely receiving projects designed elsewhere to actively participating in their conception, execution, and monitoring.
Speakers highlighted that local authorities are best positioned to understand community needs and mobilize local actors. The discussion addressed various challenges to project continuity, including insufficient financial resources and the need for greater local ownership to ensure that infrastructure and investments produce lasting results for the population.
