Abigail Alcenat discharged from hospital after seven-month burn recovery
Abigail Alcenat, an 11-year-old girl, has been discharged from Jackson Memorial Hospital after a seven-month recovery following a devastating car crash and fire in Palm Beach County. The accident, which occurred in January, left Abigail with burns to 58% of her body.
During the incident, Palm Beach County firefighter Christopher Sheehan rescued her from the burning vehicle. Abigail’s brother, Jonathan Alcenat, was driving at the time of the crash and remained hospitalized for several days following the event.
While Abigail is returning home, her medical journey continues. Dr. Shevonne Satahoo of the Miami Burn Center noted that the young girl will require additional surgeries, regular clinic visits, and years of physical therapy. Her family has established a GoFundMe campaign, ‘All In for Abi’, to assist with ongoing medical expenses.
