Abike Dabiri-Erewa mourns death of Canadian-based leader Maryam Murtala

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has expressed shock and grief following the death of Maryam Murtala, a prominent Canadian-based community leader and entrepreneur.

Murtala, a lawyer by profession, was the founder of Canada Vendors, an organization used to market and promote Nigerian businesses within Canada. Dabiri-Erewa described her as a “bridge between two nations” and credited her tireless efforts for the success of the recent first Nigerian Diaspora Economic Summit in Canada.

On behalf of the Nigerian government and the diaspora community, NIDCOM extended condolences to Murtala’s family and the Canada Vendors organization, noting her legacy as a leader and advocate for women and small business owners.
