Abiodun Ajayi resigns from Ogun SUBEB for 2027 campaign role

Abiodun Ajayi, a former Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, has resigned from his position as Permanent Member III of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). In a resignation letter addressed to Governor Dapo Abiodun and dated August 31, 2026, Ajayi stated that his decision was driven by his new role as Director-General for Senator Iyabo Obasanjo’s 2027 Senate campaign.

Ajayi noted that he chose to step down to avoid the conflict of juggling official administrative duties with emerging political responsibilities. He described the voluntary resignation as the “more honourable and responsible” course of action. While Ajayi confirmed his departure from SUBEB, he dismissed reports suggesting the move was a precursor to defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
