Abishek Porel denied bail in sexual abuse investigation

Abishek Porel, a wicketkeeper-batter for the Delhi Capitals and Bengal cricket, has been denied bail and sent to 14-day judicial custody following allegations of sexual abuse.

A medical student from Karnataka filed a complaint in Hooghly, alleging that Porel maintained a relationship with her for over three and a half years and sexually abused her under a false promise of marriage. The complainant also accused him of physical and mental abuse, as well as threatening to misuse private photographs and videos.

Following a directive from the Calcutta High Court, the Mogra police arrested Porel and seized electronic devices, including mobile phones and laptops, to investigate concerns regarding the potential circulation of private media. Porel has denied all allegations. The case is being investigated under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
