Abivax raises $800 million, valuation climbs to $11 billion
Abivax SA, the French biotechnology firm developing the anti‑inflammatory drug candidate obefazimod, completed an expanded share sale that raised $800 million, up from an originally planned $600 million. The offering, priced at $125 per American Depositary Share, represented a 2.39% premium to recent trading levels and was oversubscribed, allowing the company to increase the size of the deal by one‑third.
The capital raise values Abivax at roughly $11 billion, up from about $7 billion a few weeks earlier, and provides funding for research and operations through the second quarter of 2029. While the firm remains a potential takeover target in the inflammation and immunology space, the new financing eases near‑term pressure to seek an acquisition. Proceeds will support the continued development and potential U.S. commercialization of obefazimod for ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
Analyst coverage of Abivax’s stock has been active, with several research houses raising price targets into the $150‑$175 range and assigning buy ratings, contributing to a modest share price rebound after earlier concerns about malignancy cases in a Phase 3 trial.
