Ableism affects 81% of women with disabilities in Brazil

A study titled ‘Radar da Inclusão 2026’, conducted by Talento Incluir in partnership with the UN Global Compact – Brazil Network and carried out by Instituto Locomotiva, reveals significant discrimination against people with disabilities and neurodivergent individuals in the Brazilian workforce.

Research shows that 75% of people with disabilities or neurodivergent individuals in the workforce have experienced ableism, prejudice, or discrimination, including professional disqualification and lost promotion opportunities. Among cisgender women, this figure rises to 81%.

Intersectional factors further intensify these challenges. For instance, 84% of people with disabilities who identify as LGBTQIAPN+ report experiencing ableism. Additionally, 48% of Black women with disabilities who have worked at the same company for over three years have never been promoted, a rate higher than the general study average of 44%. Furthermore, 56% of cisgender women report lacking the same professional development opportunities as their colleagues.
