Aboriginal Pathways program builds water industry workforce
The Aboriginal Pathways Fresh Start into Water Operations course recently concluded in Port Macquarie, providing participants with practical skills in water treatment, sampling, testing, and workplace safety. The program, which ran until 25 September, was designed to create entry pathways into the water industry within a culturally supportive environment.
Following a successful pilot in the Shoalhaven region, the program aims to build a regional workforce and support local water utilities. Potential employment pathways through traineeship programs have been identified with the Kempsey Shire Council, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, and MidCoast Council.
