Abou Laraki launches Wakil, an AI tool for used car inspections
Abou Laraki, the Moroccan entrepreneur who co-founded the vehicle damage detection startup Monk, has launched a new artificial intelligence application called Wakil. Following the acquisition of Monk by the American company ACV Auctions in 2022, Laraki is now targeting individual consumers with this new tool.
Wakil utilizes computer vision to allow users to analyze the condition of used vehicles using only a smartphone camera. The AI identifies the vehicle model and detects visual defects such as scratches, rust, or repainted panels. Additionally, the app provides local market price estimations, customized inspection checklists, and a conversational assistant to help non-expert buyers negotiate more effectively. The service is available in both Morocco and France.
