Abra Group signs agreement to acquire Sky Airline
Abra Group, the parent company of Avianca and Gol Linhas Aéreas, has signed an agreement to acquire Sky Airline through a share swap. Following preliminary regulatory approvals, Sky Airline's current shareholders will receive equity in Abra Group in exchange for their holdings.
To manage the transaction, Sky Airline's legal ownership will be transferred to a newly established, independent holding structure. This arrangement is intended to preserve Sky Airline's operational autonomy as a distinct brand and minimize impacts on employees, customers, and commercial partners.
The move is seen as a strategic effort to challenge the dominance of LATAM Airlines Group in the South American market, particularly in Chile and Peru. By integrating Sky Airline's network, Abra Group aims to achieve operational synergies in fleet management and procurement while strengthening its presence in the competitive low-cost segment.
