Abradee warns of wildfire risks to Brazil's electrical grid
The Brazilian Association of Electricity Distributors (Abradee) has issued an alert regarding the increasing risk of wildfires near electrical networks due to intensifying drought conditions across various regions of Brazil.
High temperatures, low humidity, and dry vegetation create environments where fires can spread rapidly. Such incidents pose significant risks to public safety, can damage electrical infrastructure, and threaten to disrupt power supplies for thousands of residents. Abradee president Patricia Audi emphasized that even small fires can quickly reach electrical lines, causing environmental damage and endangering lives.
As part of the 20th National Electrical Grid Safety Campaign, titled ‘Energia liga. Segurança protege’, distributors are urging the population to avoid burning waste or vegetation, particularly in rural areas and near power lines.
