Abraham Alvarez, DACA recipient, linked to failed White House UFC terror plot

Federal officials identified Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, a 31‑year‑old Mexican national, as the alleged ringleader of a thwarted drone‑based terror plot aimed at the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House. The plan called for weaponized drones, sniper teams and explosives to kill President Donald Trump, government officials and event attendees. Alvarez was arrested by the FBI on June 14 and ICE has placed a detainer for his removal. He entered the United States on a B‑2 tourist visa in 2001, overstayed, and received DACA protection in 2014. He allegedly operated a safe house in Nebraska and coordinated with four co‑conspirators, who now face federal charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit violence on White House grounds.

Nebraska Sheriff Aaron Hanson said the DACA loophole allowed Alvarez to remain in the country and warned that the policy endangers public safety. The Department of Homeland Security reiterated that Alvarez should never have been allowed to stay and pledged swift justice.
