Abraham Bila Zida has been elected as the global president of the Network of African Young Leaders of the United Nations (ROJALNU). The election took place during an international preparatory workshop for the World Youth Colloquium held on August 14–15, 2026, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The event, themed ‘Horizon 2030: A Sovereign and Solidary Youth at the Heart of Global Transformation’, brought together approximately one thousand participants, including delegations from twenty countries and youth representatives from all 17 regions of Burkina Faso. The workshop was organized by ROJALNU-Burkina Faso in partnership with the Burkinabe Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment, with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations System.
In his new role, Zida stated his intention to position global youth as a driving force for transformation and a source of proposals that transcend cultural divides. His mandate will focus on shared aspirations including peace, justice, dignity, sovereignty, and people-led development. He also expressed a commitment to strengthening Ouagadougou’s status as a capital for youth.
