Abraham Vargas pledges support for ISSSTE clinic corruption complaints

Abraham Vargas Hernández, a candidate for the General Secretariat of SNTISSSTE, has pledged to support worker complaints against Carlos Alberto Mendoza Banda, the director of the ISSSTE clinic in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, if elected in the union elections held on August 11.

The complaints against Mendoza Banda include allegations of harassment, corruption, and nepotism. Workers have previously protested the clinic, claiming that positions of trust were being awarded to associates from IMSS while qualified base personnel were overlooked. Vargas stated that while he is not demanding a base worker be appointed to the directorship, he insists on a leader with a true commitment to service.

The election process, which includes approximately 2,700 eligible employees, features extended voting hours to ensure participation. Results are expected to be finalized in the early hours of Wednesday.
