Abrantes implements new municipal plan and education funding

The Abrantes Municipal Executive has approved collaboration agreements with parent associations and local partners to implement Curricular Enrichment Activities (AEC) for the 2026/27 school year. The municipality will invest €139,552.00 to provide free, non-mandatory activities for first-cycle basic education students. These activities, which include creative arts, traditional games, physical activity, and experimental sciences, are designed to complement the standard curriculum and assist families with childcare needs.

Separately, the new Municipal Director Plan (PDM) for Abrantes has officially entered into force following a revision process spanning approximately two decades. The new plan establishes strategies for territorial development, land use regulation, and infrastructure management. Key changes include the creation of new areas for economic and industrial activities, particularly near the former Pego Thermoelectric Plant, and increased construction capacity within urban perimeters to encourage investment and housing development.
