Abrantes to invest 200,000 euros in transport center modernization
The Abrantes City Council has unanimously approved the launch of a pre-contractual procedure to modernize the city's Transport Coordination Center. The project involves an estimated investment of approximately 200,000 euros to construct three new modules at the bus terminal.
The planned improvements include a new waiting room with a 45-seat capacity, a ticket office, renovated sanitary facilities, and dedicated parking spaces for bicycles and scooters. The project aims to enhance comfort, functionality, and accessibility, specifically incorporating measures to support individuals with reduced mobility.
This infrastructure initiative is part of a broader municipal strategy to promote sustainable mobility by strengthening the links between public transport, pedestrian paths, and soft mobility options. The goal is to encourage alternatives to private car use and reduce pollution. The municipality intends to apply for European funds through the Portugal 2030 program under the Active Mobility notice. The estimated execution period for the works is 60 days.
