Pakistani leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed has reached the number one spot in the ICC T20I bowling rankings for the first time. With 736 rating points, he has overtaken Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, who sits in second place with 735 points.

Abrar is the fifth Pakistani bowler to achieve this ranking, joining Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Imad Wasim, and Shahid Afridi. Since his international debut in December 2022, the 28-year-old has established himself as a key player for Pakistan across formats, including significant performances in Test and ODI cricket.

Born in Karachi to a Pashtun family originally from Shinkiari, Abrar’s rise to the top of the rankings follows a professional career that began in domestic cricket with teams such as the Karachi Kings and Sindh.
