Forca d’Acero, a mountain pass located at 1,538 meters, serves as a scenic connection between the Abruzzo region and the Lazio region within the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park. The area is characterized by dense beech forests, grassy plateaus, and diverse wildlife, including deer, wolves, and the Marsican brown bear.

Visitors can explore various hiking routes, ranging from simple walks toward Macchiarvana to longer treks leading toward San Donato Val di Comino. The landscape is particularly noted for its autumn foliage, with colors shifting between late September and November, and offers a different scenery during the winter snow season.
