Abruzzo cycling network launches 1,500km joint map
A new joint cycling tourism map has been launched, integrating three major projects: Ciclovie della Transumanza, I Percorsi di Ermes, and Rete Ciclabile dei Trabocchi. The initiative covers over 1,500 kilometers across 56 routes, connecting the provinces of Abruzzo, Lazio, and Marche.
Presented during the sixth edition of Art, Bike & Run + Wine, the project aims to link environmental, cultural, and historical heritage through sustainable mobility. The Ciclovie della Transumanza routes specifically honor the historical tradition of transhumance pastoralism. The Rete Ciclabile dei Trabocchi includes over 300 kilometers of paths, utilizing intermodality with nine railway stations to connect the coast to the hinterland.
Supported by PNRR funding, the initiative seeks to revitalize local territories by connecting small villages and natural reserves with historical and gastronomic attractions. The routes are fully mapped with verified tracks available for download and are largely supported by fixed signage.
