Abruzzo economic crisis cited by Democratic Party leader

Silvio Paolucci, the regional group leader for the Democratic Party, has criticized the economic performance of the Marsilio administration in Abruzzo. Paolucci argues that official claims of economic success do not reflect the lived reality of local families and businesses.

Citing data from institutions such as INPS, the Bank of Italy, and CGIA Mestre, Paolucci highlighted a significant decline in the region's productive fabric. He noted that nearly 11,000 artisan businesses have closed in Abruzzo over the last decade, representing a 28.3% drop and placing the region fifth in Italy for such losses.

Furthermore, Paolucci reported that real wages in Abruzzo fell by 11.7% between 2008 and 2023, a rate nearly double the national average decline of 6.2%. He also stated that the average annual salary in the region stands at 20,339 euros, which is 4,100 euros below the national average.
