Abruzzo officials report no West Nile Virus emergency
Abruzzo Health Councilor Nicoletta Verì has stated that there is currently no emergency regarding the West Nile Virus in the region. Following the confirmation of two human infection cases, officials emphasized that a precise and effective sanitary protocol is active to combat the spread of the virus.
The regional monitoring system involves collaboration between the Health Department, local health authorities (Asl), the Abruzzo and Molise Zooprophylactic Institute, and various municipalities. This network serves as an early warning system to detect the virus in both humans and animals.
While the virus is expanding geographically across Italy—with the National Institute of Health reporting stable circulation in 16 regions and 60 provinces—Abruzzo officials maintain that the current surveillance and prophylaxis measures are sufficient to manage the situation.
