Abruzzo politicians allege misuse of public funds for political consensus

Luciano D'Amico, a regional councilor in Abruzzo, has accused the regional government of using public resources as a tool for political consensus rather than for essential services. During a press conference held with group leaders Silvio Paolucci (PD) and Francesco Taglieri (M5S), D'Amico criticized the practice of allocating funds to various associations and entities without objective criteria.

The controversy follows the discovery of a four-page list allegedly linked to a majority councilor. The document reportedly contains approximately 100 beneficiaries in the province of Chieti, involving a total of 560,000 euros in funds. D'Amico expressed concern that these resources, which could potentially be used to reduce taxes or fund healthcare and transport, are being diverted to specific groups to influence political support.

D'Amico characterized these legislative actions as “legge mancia” (tip law) and warned that if funds are distributed without transparency, the opposition is prepared to take the matter to the judiciary, citing potential issues regarding the pollution of the electoral process.
