Abruzzo President Marsilio discusses territorial resilience in L’Aquila

Abruzzo Region President Marco Marsilio addressed the conference ‘Beyond the Smart City, the Learning Territory’ held at the OMCeO Auditorium in L’Aquila. The event, promoted by SPEE with support from the Abruzzo Region, INGV, and TIEMS International, focused on territorial resilience and risk management.

The discussions centered on the ability to collect and interpret data to identify vulnerabilities and support effective decision-making. Key strategic sectors addressed included environmental protection, civil protection, public health, infrastructure security, and the continuity of essential services.

Marsilio emphasized that while technology improves observation capabilities, human expertise and responsibility are required to interpret data and guide choices. The conference also highlighted the role of local authorities in building safer communities through integrated approaches such as environmental sustainability and the ‘One Health’ model.
