Abruzzo ranks lowest in Italy for specialist medical visit fulfillment
The Abruzzo region ranks last in Italy regarding the conversion of specialist visit prescriptions into actual medical services. According to data highlighted by Democratic Party (Pd) regional secretary Daniele Marinelli and regional group leader Silvio Paolucci, only 33.7% of prescriptions for initial specialist visits result in a completed appointment.
This figure is significantly lower than other regions, such as the Province of Bolzano, which stands at 67.7%. The Pd representatives criticized the regional administration, stating that the current system fails to guarantee universal access to healthcare. They noted that the inability to secure public appointments often forces citizens to either seek expensive private care or forgo necessary medical treatment entirely due to long waiting lists and staff shortages.
