Abruzzo Regional Council to debate waste management amendment

The Abruzzo Regional Council is set to discuss an amendment regarding waste management protocols. The proposal, introduced by Mario Quaglieri, Massimo Verrecchia, and Marianna Scoccia, explores the creation of provincial sub-sectors for waste handling.

Giovanni Di Pangrazio, the Mayor of Avezzano, is advocating for a specific Marsica sub-sector. He argues that the municipalities within Marsica possess unique characteristics, including lower tariffs and high recycling rates, which differ from the L'Aquila and Sulmona territories. Di Pangrazio noted that only 10 of the more than 30 Marsica municipalities are currently linked to the public company Segen Spa, and he represents 24 mayors who support the sub-sector proposal to protect local territorial specificities.
