Abruzzo stepfather sentenced to 13 years for sexual abuse

A 46-year-old man of Sicilian origin has been sentenced to 13 years and three months in prison for the sexual abuse of his partner's daughter in the Abruzzo region. The sentence became irrevocable after the man waived his right to appeal to the Court of Cassation, prompting the Prosecutor General of the Court of Appeal of L'Aquila to issue the incarceration order.

The abuse occurred between the summer of 2022 and 2023. The victim, who was nine years old at the time and is now thirteen, revealed the abuse to a friend, which led to the biological father being notified and a subsequent report to the Carabinieri. Investigators used hidden cameras and microphones within the home to document the crimes, leading to the man's immediate arrest.

The victim's mother has also been sentenced to six years and six months for complicity in sexual violence. Her appeal is currently being reviewed by the Seventh Section of the Court of Cassation. Following the incident, the minor was placed in a protected facility before being reunited with her biological father in November 2024.
