Abruzzo summer guide highlights coastal towns and villages for July travelers

The Abruzzo coastline and nearby inland areas offer a variety of destinations for summer visitors. Silvi features both the modern beach resort of Silvi Marina and the historic hilltop village of Silvi Alta with its medieval tower and sea‑view terraces. Ortona combines a striking Aragonese castle, a historic basilica, and a lively port area, while also recalling its World War II battle heritage.

San Vito Chietino is renowned for the “Costa dei Trabocchi,” where traditional wooden fishing platforms now host seaside restaurants and provide panoramic views. Francavilla al Mare, a short drive north of Pescara, offers a relaxed beach atmosphere and easy access to the trabocchi route. The Costa dei Trabocchi itself is a popular scenic stretch ideal for walking, cycling and seafood meals.

Further inland, Rocca San Giovanni presents a compact historic centre paired with nearby beaches, whereas Abbateggio and Roccamorice give access to cooler hilltop settings, mountain trails and rural charm. Together these towns showcase Abruzzo’s blend of sea, heritage and nature for July holidays.
