Abruzzo textile sector maintains regional production strength despite decline
The textile, clothing, and footwear (TAC) sector in Abruzzo, Italy, has shown greater resilience compared to the national average. According to a dossier by the Centro Studi Tagliacarne, the number of Abruzzese companies in this sector decreased by 12.4% between 2019 and 2025, while the national contraction reached 17.4%.
Regional exports for the sector have reached 482 million euros, resulting in a positive trade balance of 23 million euros. The Val Vibrata district and the province of Teramo remain the primary production hubs for the region.
Despite these figures, the industry faces significant labor challenges. Regional Councilor for Productive Activities and Labor, Tiziana Magnacca, noted that 62.8% of sought professional roles are difficult to fill, even with approximately 2,300 hires programmed. Magnacca emphasized the need to better align regional training policies with the actual professional requirements of the manufacturing sector.
