Puglia and Abruzzo offer diverse cultural and natural tourism experiences
Italy's southern regions of Puglia and Abruzzo offer diverse opportunities for slow tourism and cultural exploration. In Puglia, visitors can experience authentic local food festivals (sagre) outside the peak summer season to avoid crowds and engage more directly with local producers. The “White City” of Ostuni remains a major draw for its Mediterranean charm, limestone architecture, and proximity to the Adriatic coast and ancient olive groves.
In Abruzzo, the region offers rugged mountain landscapes and natural wonders. The Tirino river is noted for its exceptionally clean waters, suitable for canoeing near its sources in Capestrano. The Valle Roveto and Canistro provide hiking opportunities through chestnut forests and ancient villages. Additionally, Chieti will host an event titled “Abruzzo Magico” on August 17, celebrating ten years of folklore, myths, and legends through storytelling and dance at the Villa Frigerj park.
