Abruzzo wages fall significantly below Italian national average

An analysis by the CGIA study office, based on Inps data, reveals that average annual gross salaries for private sector employees in Abruzzo were €20,339 in 2024. This figure is approximately €4,147 lower than the Italian national average of €24,486.

The regional labor market shows gaps across several indicators. Abruzzo recorded an average of 235.7 paid days per year, compared to the national average of 246.5. The average daily wage in the region was €86.28, while the national average was €99.32.

Provincial data shows significant internal variation. Chieti reported the highest earnings in the region with an annual average of €21,493, followed by L'Aquila (€20,231) and Pescara (€20,211). Teramo recorded the lowest average at €19,034 per year. In national rankings for annual salary, Chieti ranks 55th, L'Aquila 64th, Pescara 65th, and Teramo 73rd out of 100 provinces.

Productivity also lags behind the national average. The value added per hour worked in 2023 was €37.94, which is 12.2% lower than the national figure of €43.20.
