Abruzzo wine sector highlighted in Untold Guide 2027 awards

The third edition of the Untold Guide – “What has not yet been said about wine” – focused on the Abruzzo wine region, honoring a range of wineries and labels for their quality, identity and storytelling. Organized by Decanto and published by Trenta Editore, the guide presented awards at a ceremony held during Vinitaly and in the archaeological park of Sibari. Winners included Pesolillo (Best Family‑Run Winery), Tenuta Tre Gemme (Best Emerging Winery), Ciavolich (Best Winery) and Contesa (Best Winery to Visit). Additional Decanto amphora awards recognized long‑term excellence.

Fourteen Abruzzo wines received accolades across white, rosé and red categories, such as Pecorino d’Abruzzo (Best Original Wine) from Ciavolich, Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo (Best Value and Gastronomic Wine) from Contesa, and multiple Montepulciano d’Abruzzo labels. The guide’s selections underline the region’s capacity to turn wine into a narrative of its terroir.

Separately, the annual wine festivals in Abruzzo draw tourists who explore vineyards and learn proper tasting techniques. Organizers advise visitors to start with white wines, observe color, aroma and palate before moving to reds, highlighting the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo and Cerasuolo varieties as emblematic of the region’s heritage.
